These are quarter-end positions filed up to 45 days later: they show what managers reported, not what they hold today.

Quarter by quarter
| Quarter end | Stocks compared | Net additions | Net reductions | Net change |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 30 Jun 2026 (Q2 2026) | 494 | 264 | 230 | +$97.2B |
| 31 Mar 2026 (Q1 2026) | 493 | 248 | 245 | +$19.7B |

| 30 Sep 2025 (Q3 2025) | 492 | 179 | 313 | −$268.1B |
Each row compares that quarter end with the one before, valued at the later quarter-end prices. Newer data sets can add late filings to older quarters, so figures for earlier quarters may differ slightly from what we showed when they were first published.

"Ten largest hold" is the share of the reported shares that sit with the ten largest reported holders. Because managers can report the same shares, the reported value can exceed what exists; we do not show a share of shares outstanding.
How to read this page
Every US institutional manager with at least $100 million in reportable securities files a Form 13F within 45 days of each quarter end. The filing lists its long positions in US-listed shares on the last day of the quarter. We compare two quarter ends for the 494 S&P 500 stocks where we can match the managers' reports to the stock by CUSIP and check them against the stock's closing price on that day.
The lists rank stocks by what managers collectively reported, so they follow the big index and fund families: when money flows into an index fund, its manager adds shares of every stock in the index, and when the index changes, the new members appear in the additions. Read a large net addition as "managers reported more shares", not as a verdict on the company. The reports are dated, they can be amended, and they leave out shorts, options and anything held outside the filers.
Two kinds of reports are kept out of the change figures. Some large managers file a one-line placeholder with no holdings in two quarters of the year, which would otherwise show up as a sell-out in one quarter and a new position in the next. And a manager whose total reported S&P 500 holdings of $5 billion or more at least doubled or halved from one quarter to the next (15 this quarter) is treated as a change in what it reports, such as sub-advisers counted twice, not as trading. Both stay in the holder lists where they report holdings.
Each stock page has the same data for that company: the number of managers, the ten largest reported holders and how each changed, and the last five quarters. Funds have their own version on the ETF page.
Frequently asked questions
Which stocks did institutions buy most in Q2 2026?
Measured as the dollar value of the change in reported shares among managers that filed in both quarters, at the 30 Jun 2026 price, the largest net additions among the 494 S&P 500 stocks we can compare were Alphabet Inc. (GOOG) +$30.7B, Advanced Micro Devices Inc (AMD) +$24.1B, Amazon Com Inc (AMZN) +$21.6B. The table above lists the first fifteen with the number of managers that opened, added to, reduced or closed positions.
Which stocks did institutions sell most?
The largest net reductions were Micron Technology Inc (MU) −$19.2B, Sandisk Corp (SNDK) −$14.3B, Marvell Technology, Inc. (MRVL) −$12.8B. In dollars these moves are small next to the size of the companies, so the table also shows the percent change in reported shares.
Does a net addition mean the "smart money" is buying?
No. Form 13F shows what a manager held on one day, filed up to 45 days later. A manager that adds a stock may be an index fund following inflows, and one that reduces may be rebalancing, so a rise in reported shares does not show the buyer was right and says nothing about where the price goes next.
How many managers file Form 13F?
8,857 managers filed a Form 13F for 30 June 2026 in the data sets we hold (filings run to 31 Aug 2026). Only managers with at least $100 million in reportable securities have to file, and the report lists long positions only.
How do you calculate net buying and selling?
For each stock we take the managers that filed a Form 13F for both 31 March 2026 and 30 June 2026 and held the stock in at least one of them, add up the shares they report at each date, restate the earlier shares for splits (only when the managers' own filings show the split), and multiply the difference by the 30 Jun 2026 closing price. Managers that did not file in both quarters are left out so that a late filer does not look like a seller, and so are 115 filings that reported no holdings at all (some large managers file a one-line placeholder in two quarters of the year) and 15 managers whose total reported S&P 500 holdings of $5 billion or more at least doubled or halved from one quarter to the next, which points to a change in what they report rather than trading.
