About EQT Corp

EQT is one of the largest natural gas producers in the United States, with operations centered in the Appalachian Basin in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio. It drills and operates wells and also owns pipeline and gathering infrastructure to move gas to market. Revenue comes from selling natural gas and a smaller amount of liquids at market prices, so earnings follow changes in gas prices and production levels.

EQT Corp generated $9.5 billion of revenue in the last twelve months, with sales that fell 10.6% a year over the past three years. Net debt to EBITDA is 0.8 times. The operating margin is 42.5% and the return on invested capital is 10%. Shareholders receive a dividend, yielding 1.2%. Its X-Ray Score is 63 out of 100.

Fair value estimate

$72middle half of models $55 – $86
Undervalued +31.6% to fair value
Average of the 15 valuation models that pass our checks: multiples, discounted cash flow, dividend discount and earnings power value. A model more than 100% above or 60% below the price is left out as unrealistic. Model uncertainty is High, based on how far apart the models are. Undervalued or Overvalued means the gap to fair value is more than 17.5%.
Peak-cycle earnings: the current operating margin is more than 1.5x its 7-year average, so multiples applied to today's profit may overstate value; model uncertainty is set to High
