CNOOC Ltd is an oil and gas exploration and production company focused on offshore fields. It explores for, develops and produces crude oil and natural gas, mainly in Chinese waters such as the Bohai Bay and the South China Sea, and also holds interests in overseas projects. Its customers are refiners, energy traders and industrial users of oil and gas. The company is based in Hong Kong and is controlled by the state-owned China National Offshore Oil Corporation.
