National Grid is a utility company based in London that owns and operates the networks carrying electricity and gas to homes and businesses. In Britain it runs the high-voltage electricity transmission system and the gas transmission system, and it also operates regional electricity and gas distribution networks. In the northeastern United States it delivers electricity and gas through regulated local networks. Its customers are households, businesses and other energy suppliers that rely on its pipes and wires.
