Companhia Paranaense de Energia, known as COPEL, is a Brazilian electric utility based in Curitiba, in the state of Paraná. It generates electricity, mainly through hydroelectric plants, and also transmits and distributes power to homes, businesses, industries and public bodies across Paraná and other parts of Brazil. The company additionally runs related businesses, including telecommunications services and energy trading, and is controlled by the state government of Paraná.
