Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais, known as CEMIG, is a Brazilian electric utility based in Belo Horizonte. It generates electricity, mainly through hydroelectric plants, and transmits and distributes power to homes, businesses, industries and rural customers, chiefly in the state of Minas Gerais. The company also takes part in gas distribution and energy trading, and it operates through subsidiaries and stakes in other power companies.
