Centrais Elétricas Brasileiras S.A., known as Eletrobrás, is a Brazilian electric utility based in Rio de Janeiro. It operates across electricity generation, transmission and distribution, mainly through subsidiary companies that run hydroelectric plants and the transmission lines that carry power across the country. Its customers include distributors, large industrial users and consumers served by its regional utilities. The Brazilian government holds a controlling interest in the company.
