About Applied Materials Inc.

Applied Materials is a semiconductor equipment company based in California. It designs and builds the machines chipmakers use to deposit, pattern and remove thin layers of material on silicon wafers, along with systems for inspecting and measuring finished wafers. It also supplies equipment for making displays and provides service and spare parts for its installed machines. Its customers are manufacturers of semiconductors and display panels, who use its tools to produce the chips and screens found in electronics.
