Meridian Energy is a New Zealand electricity company based in Wellington. It generates power from renewable sources, chiefly hydroelectric stations in the South Island and wind farms, and it retails electricity to households and businesses in New Zealand and Australia. The company also supplies energy to large industrial customers and trades electricity in the wholesale market. Its operations centre on producing and selling power rather than on manufacturing goods.
